In Memory of James “Jim” Tesno, 1950 - 2025
The Mercer County Historical Society mourns the passing of our dear friend and board member, James “Jim” Tesno, who departed this life on July 6, 2025.
Jim brought to our organization not only his sharp mind and careful attention to detail, but also a deep passion for preserving the stories and artifacts that define Mercer County’s history. His work in accessioning collections at the Riley House ensured that precious pieces of our shared heritage would be carefully documented and protected for future generations. His thoughtful care strengthened our museum’s foundation and helped chart a bright future for the Historical Society.
Beyond his technical expertise, Jim’s kindness and steady presence left an indelible mark on our board and staff. He believed in the power of history to connect people and inspire community pride.
While he never sought recognition for his contributions, we honor his guidance and unwavering dedication. His legacy will continue to shape our work and the museum’s mission for many years to come.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Jim’s family and loved ones. We will miss him dearly, and we are profoundly grateful for the lasting impact he made on the Mercer County Historical Society and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
