In Memory of

Deane Armour

1944 - 2015

The Mercer County Historical Society mourns the passing of our dear friend and dedicated volunteer, Deane Armour, who departed this life on August 26, 2025.

Deane was instrumental in helping launch the Mercer Memories Project, a cornerstone effort to preserve and share the stories of our community. His energy, vision, and unwavering dedication gave this project the strong foundation it needed to succeed. Thanks to his early leadership and commitment, countless voices and memories of Mercer County have been recorded, safeguarded, and made available for generations to come.

Beyond his work with the project, Deane’s kindness and enthusiasm inspired all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He believed deeply in the importance of preserving not only artifacts, but also the living stories that connect families and communities to their past.

Deane never sought recognition for the work he did at the MCHS. We honor Deane for his invaluable contributions and the enduring impact he made on our organization. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of the Mercer Memories Project and will continue to guide our work for many years ahead.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Deane’s family and loved ones. We will miss him dearly and remain profoundly grateful for the generosity of spirit and dedication he shared with the Mercer County Historical Society.
